I write to you tonight from room 436B from California Pacific Hospital. Yet again, a “regular cold” decided to go to the next level for me (Coop’s also sick, but not in a hospital bed) – but I’m working hard on getting better. After a dose (or 2) of steroids, 8 albuterol (sp?) treatments, 2 x-rays and a boat load of visits from doctors and nurses, I’m FINALLY sleeping (yes, dream dictation is possible). What’s crazy is that I was actually tired all day (from no naps and a bad night sleep last night), but the steroids and albuterol kept me pretty pumped up.
I feel bad for Coop though… Dad said he had a hard time falling asleep without me in the crib next door. We usually have our twilight talks (ok, they are at 7:30 pm, but that’s twilight for us!) until one of us decides to conk out. He usually likes talking smack (“My jump shot is better than yours,” “So-and-so thinks I’m hot,” “Have you checked out my biceps lately?”), so quite frankly, I was ok to go without that for a night.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,

I’m not one to brag or anything, but just wanted to let y’all know that I’ve absolutely, positively mastered the tackle. And it certainly doesn’t hurt that Cooper is completely cooperative… The second he sees me coming, he pulls himself into fetal position, likely to protect himself from my madness. Our favorite time to wrestle is after bath time in the crib. Boy, do we have fun (well, I do at least).
On another note, mom had the nerve to let the doctor inject us with the chicken pox 2 weeks ago (ok, it was the chicken pox vaccine, but we all know that it entails giving us a bit of the chicken pox to build up an immunity!). Regardless, Coop and I both came down with a mild form of the pox this week. They say that only 5% of kids who get the vaccine come down with a mild form… and lo and behold – we both did. Coop’s was a little worse than mine, but honestly not much to complain about. The biggest bummer of it all is that we are contagious and can’t hang around our buds for a little while.
Oh well. I guess that just means I’ll have to tackle Cooper for a few more days until i can take down someone else’s kid.
Hut 1, hut 2, HUUUT!

I usually demand to push Cooper in the wagon, but this is a rare occasion that I allow him to push me. So, mom caught it on camera.
The dets on us:
* I outweigh Cooper. I thought the day would never come because he was so round (not the mention the size of his head), but I do… by a whole 6 ounces. We are the same height, but I now weigh 24 lbs 10 oz and Coop is 24 lbs 4 oz. H-U-G-E on both fronts (though we haven’t gained much lately because of all the exercising we are getting).
* I’m eating like a champ. Cooper seems to have mom’s picky eating habits (which may have helped me outweigh him!). Mom and dad continue to introduce us to as many foods as they can (which is often a challenge, given they don’t cook). So far, our favorite things are: Quinn – bread/pita, hummus, turkey, cheese and peas; Cooper – kiwi, blueberries, orange, corn and black beans.
* I ONLY want to feed myself. I’m not interested in having anyone shovel food in my mouth anymore whatsoever. End of discussion.
* Not to continue to brag, but I walk like I’ve done it my whole life. Cooper is getting pretty darn good too. He still walks like Frankenstein, but he’s starting to be able to keep up with me.
* Our new nanny (Mia) started and she is AMAZING. She has more energy than anyone we’ve ever met and loves to hug and kiss us – 2 VERY important things. How lucky we are to have her. She even comes over to visit on her days off – that’s how much she loves us.
* I’ve learned to hug people (Cooper included) and will now pretty much hug anyone I know that is kneeling down in front of me. Mom thinks this is fascinating, given I’m more stranger-averse than Cooper. Don’t get me wrong, Cooper still charms everyone by flashing his pearly whites at passersby.
* We joined the JCC and love to go swimming.
* We aren’t saying any words except for baby babble, but every once in a while we’ll make our parents think we are talking by saying “dada” or “mama.” One thing I am doing a LOT of though is pointing. Pretty much at everything in our house. Twice.
That’s it friends. Till next time.

Dentists get a bad rap. It definitely wasn’t as bad as the other kids said it would be. Funniest part was that mom had to answer the question “how do you think your child will handle this visit” on the registration forms and she said that Quinn would likely not be very cooperative, and that I would be perfect. Well… we set out to prove her completely wrong. Quinn sat in a near-trance while getting his teeth brushed/cleaned, while I decided to show my “spirited” side. The good news though is that we got through it, got a toy for our good behavior, and now have real toothbrushes so we can brush daily (we are almost 1.5 years old, and mom and dad had never properly brushed our teeth – it just didn’t occur to them!).
Sparkling Clean,
Cooper
